User instructions

This machine features 2 functions: it’s both a thicknesser and planer.

Planer

By putting the black dust collection guard on the bottom of the machine, the device functions as a planer. Wood can be slid over the top to make a flat, nicely finished surface. The planer is an especially dangerous machine, because there are exposed blades spinning at high speeds. Wood needs to be fed across these blades to make the cut, thus creating a potential hazard to those feeding the wood through. There are several precautions that need to be taken for safe operation.

Note: If you don’t require a broad planing surface, it is recommended to use the handheld planer (Makita hand planer ) instead, as it’s more easily handled and thus safer to use .

If the hand planer is not an option, consider using the thicknesser (as described in the section below), as that does not require manual feeding. This minimizes the risk of injury.
